Chris Brewer is a dedicated California historian and the visionary behind Bear State Books, a publishing house committed to chronicling the rich history of the San Joaquin Valley, Death Valley, and beyond. As a Registered Architectural Historian, Chris has contributed over 14 years of expertise to Caltrans, safeguarding the architectural heritage of California. Since founding The Exeter Company in 1981, he has provided invaluable historical consulting services. A descendant of Colonel Thomas Baker, Chris continues to honor his legacy by collecting and preserving the narratives that define California's past.
